April Featured Artist Cindy Babbitt
Each month the market features a different artist as part of the Heights 1st Saturday events. Cindy Babbitt was among the two dozen local artists that setup at the first Yale Street Arts Market three years ago. Babbitt's art background includes photography, mural painting, graphics, medical illustration floral design and teaching art. With clay as her primary medium, Babbitt creates traditional pottery with functional designs and figurative sculpture. "The excitement of creating something that people will use in their daily life, and admire for its beauty is very satisfying." says Babbitt. "I love working with cut flowers and I have designed a beautiful flower display dish I call Feng Shui Flower Dish that utilizes the elements of the earth, such as water & air and of course clay. Just a few stems of any type of flower make a lovely and simple Asian -inspired design, These are very popular at my art shows. Anyone can make a lovely flower arrangement using this clay piece." Babbitt's current challenge is the human body and face, working daily to improve in the area of clay sculpture, Face masks to hang and clay pieces including the human body are just a few of the clay designs she is making right now. Each one is a full expression and one-of-a-kind. She may be humble about her more creative side, however she usually has a lot less to pack at the end of the day. Contact Info: |
